New OS for iphone on March 17th

We just got the announcement, iPhone OS 3.0 is coming. Set your clocks, mark your calendars. It’s going down March 17th. Apparently, we’ll get a sneak peak at the new OS, as well as a look at a brand new version of the SDK. Exciting stuff indeed, and we’ll be there live at 10am PST (1pm EST) with the liveblog. Apple’s calling this an “advance preview of what we’re building,” so we’re not expecting anything ready to go as of the 17th, but hopefully this will allow developers to start building toward future functionality (hey, how about some push notifications?), and presumably users won’t have too many months to wait after that for the real deal.

Bluetooth transfer iphone is possible now!

iBluetooth, an application for bluetooth file transfer via iPhone has finally arrived to the iSpazio repository.

The application currently requires registration and the author’s (MeDevil’s) site has gone down due to high traffic.

iBluetooth costs 3.99 euro and the funds raised from this will be used by MeDevil to purchase a complete bluetooth stack for a background daemon.

Implementing a complete and stable stack (with all the bluetooth profiles) is nearly impossible for me in a short time, so i’ve considered the idea of buying a complete (and well tested) stack. Now there are only 3 stacks that support almost all bluetooth profiles: BlueMagic, BCHS, and ClarinoxBlue. Of course all of these are VERY EXPENSIVE. So, i’ve decided to make you pay for this application so i can buy one of those stacks for ALL the community and implement a background daemon that will provide a full-featured stack for ANY developer out there.

Please undertand that the “free way” is not the right way. If you want this application “for free” then take the “cracked version” but you’re essentially removing yourself the possibility to have more features, such as: A2DP (Audio stereo), Serial Port (needed for bluetooth gps), DUN & LAP (internet navigation), which could be implemented in a small time and used by all of the developers out there.

Think of xGPS developers adding support for bluetooth GPS devices or other free developers adding bluetooth functionality to native apps like contact, photos or any other infinite idea that developers can have! And yes, writing a complete stack is always possible, but how much [time] do you think it will take? Look, i’ve spent 3 months only for the obex part…. and that’s a small part… it’s just one (ONE) profile out of 27! So think about it! Regards, Domenico.
